GENEWIZ is a global leader in R&D genomics services. Since the company's beginning in 1999, GENEWIZ has led the way in providing superior data quality with unparalleled technical support to enable researchers around the world to advance their scientific discoveries.

As a full-service provider, GENEWIZ provides Sanger DNA sequencing, gene synthesis, molecular biology, high throughput/next generation sequencing, bioinformatics, and GLP regulatory services through the online customer portal.
Opportunities
The customer portal serves both as an eCommerce platform as well as a Laboratory Information Management System (LIMS). After 4 major version upgrades over the past decade, numerous features, products, and services were added to the portal to accommodate customer needs.
As GENEWIZ's first UX designer, I am taking the opportunity to:

evaluate the usability heuristics of the existing digital products

work with customers and customer facing teams to identify historical pain points

redesign problematic user interfaces

introduce and maintain human-centered design best practices on new features
